I had a few lines just come to me the other day for a poem and I wanted to write them down before I forgot them. They then formed into a little poem. I rarely ever write poetry… I’ll write the occasional haiku here or there, sometimes a sappy love song that never sees the light of day. They are therapeutic, but later looking at them I decide they really are for my eyes only. This poem though was inspired by the earth and how it has been flourishing with less travel and less pollution from all of us. We really need to take care of our planet and protect her and help in any way we can. I hope we can move forward to a new “normal” and make a change in our way of life as compared to how we all were living before!
In the stillness I’m reborn,
In the quiet I’m whole again,
Not ravaged by malicious hands,
Used and exploited dry wastelands.
I see again the golden sun,
Shining warmth down on me,
Not an angry ball of fire,
Alighting the world’s own funeral byre.
Return to normal people say,
I shudder deeply at the thought,
I was a perfect “normal life” they lied,
While I slowly cracked and died inside.
You stripped me bare and hollow,
tossed me aside when you finished,
caring only about your personal gain,
Taking and taking as I slowly wane.
But with your slowness I flourish,
While you stay inside I heal again,
Hoping your eyes are opened by the shift,
And praying you’ll consider my existence a gift.
Let’s do our part to move forward and try to make this world a beautiful place starting with ourselves! We can be the change. xoxo

Dear Mikaela: A lovely and beautiful poem; from your heart which is pure goodness! I know you have been reborn. You and many others like you? A rebirth is really what the world needs and I really hope that young people will be able to deliver. For a short time it was so quiet. The Earth was thinking. I hope it made the right choice!
The line “caring only about your personal gain” really resonates with me. It is so true! There has really been a shift; I hope for the best. It is so quiet. Thinking .. thinking … I can only hope and pray!

Sending virtual snaps your way, I’ve also been getting into poetry writing lately. It’s fun to experiment with another form of expression.
Great poem,
